OK this as the title says is directed at those who may be contemplating
Ending It All.Of course all are welcome to read this. But please don't post if you disagree - read point 4 of the rules.
First of all, if you are thinking of doing yourself in because you've reached the conclusion that your life is pointless, I agree with you entirely, life is totally pointless, unless you consider extending the family tree by putting children into the world, a valid raison d'etre or reason for existing.
Life is pointless and if you end yours, that's the end of you. No afterlife, no soul somehow detaching itself from your still warm corpse and wafting towards the sky. Instead, the maggots soon start to work on your remains until at some point in time, depending on the type of soil and ambient temperature etc., only your bones remain, together with possibly some dental work and breast/thigh/buttock implants, maybe a pacemaker or some other hi-tec gadget!
So whether you're trying to "get back at" somebody, maybe your parents, siblings, spouse current or past, some person who rejected you, or you're just very depressed generally, ask yourself if permanent and irrevocable termination of your existence is what you really consider to be your best option. For in killing yourself, you're killing the latest product of thousands of generations of all the beings that survived and created - you!
On the 12th of May 2007, the President of the University of Akron, Ohio gave a speech (called "The Improbability Of You") in which he quoted liberally from Bill Bryson's 2003 book "A Short History Of Nearly Everything", and I'm going to do the same:
quote++ Consider the fact that for 3.8 billion years, a period of time older than the Earth's mountains and rivers and oceans, every one of your forebears on both sides has been attractive enough to find a mate, healthy enough to reproduce, and sufficiently blessed by fate and circumstances to live long enough to do so. Not one of your pertinent ancestors was squashed, devoured, drowned, starved, stranded, stuck fast, untimely wounded, or otherwise deflected from its life's quest of delivering a tiny charge of genetic material to the right partner at the right moment in order to perpetuate the only possible sequence of hereditary combinations that could result - eventually, astoundingly, and all too briefly - in you."
++ end quote
Armed with that knowledge, why don't you "get a life". In other words, start living in the present. Look around at the good things that surround us. Enjoy! +++ to be cont'd +++
