Drewski: Lilly

The whole thing is propaganda as they have no hope of winning either militarily or by terrorism. Hence, their actions are taken to invoke overreaction by Israel in order to play out to the world. It's like a dog being trained by a dog that has not been trained properly, the sense is all out of it as they belive that any action they take is justified and any action taken to stop further actions they may take can be twisted to reflect the inhumanity of their enemy.

the fact that peace is required for any concrete negotiations is moot as they are so imbedded in retaliatory actions that this process would mean that they lose power in the here and now amongst their people so, hit and run tactics are the brad and butter. Even now as we speak they blame Israel for their misery in order to get mileage for the next round of attacks after the ceasefire comes into play.

One question for all:

What should Israel do to stop bombings, terrorist attacks and rockets other than what they are doing and, other than negotiations which they have tried?

Kidatheart

Heaven forbid that adhering to ceasefires and promised points from negotiations would kill them. I mean, after all, they only have everything to gain from that method.

I realsied once I posted in this thread it was an open invitation to misinterpretation of what what I posted, regardless of what I had to say. It seems everyone has a point to make, no matter what.

My mistake for entering the fray.

Hope you all have wonderful lives.tip hat

LILLYLADY: I can't answer for why they put their people into the direct line of deadly consequences. Do you have any ideas? Only use their people for human shields to gain pity from the world for the Hamas cause, not for the Palestinian peoples needs. It's sad when a mother is asking where their leaders are to have mercy on their children.

I think for some, it's simply a matter of having nothing else left to lose. sigh

Funny how some of the more serious topics turn into nothing more than personal attacks and insults towards others on the site, some of whom I've never seen or heard of before. Especially this thread, being one of the most serious of topics I've seen posted in the two years I've been here.

No shortage of fanatics or facists on this planet.....or on this site. rolling eyes

Hope you all have wonderful lives!wave

Sol, Robbie, Hugz, Ray and a few others that have provided a little insight and knowledge.tip hat

I can't honestly say I have any conctrete solutions, even having some (albeit somewhat limited) understanding of the nature of the conflict. Far too many (religious) whackjobs involved, and too much at stake (money/power) for there to be a simple peaceful resolution.

Live for today, for tomorrow is increasingly uncertain.cartwheel

jbibiza: I remember one of my favorite nights in my old bar... the power went out for several hours and instead of closing I lit loads of candles a couple of the lads ran home for their guitars... and more and more people started coming in, people seemed to have a need to be together... We had a great sing a long and put back a few drinks and when the power came back on we shut off the lights and carried on...

It was a brilliant night!

Had a New Years eve like that a few years ago at a friend's pub. Someone crashed their car into the transformer that supplied the area and out went the power.
I being the only sober one in the bar (not sure how that happened) drove a friend to his place where we grabbed a couple boxes of candles.
It ended up being one of the more memorable New Years eve's I've had in a long time. Much more intimate without the music on and people just chatting and a few singing in the candle light.

If there were to be an outage of any length here in Canada during the winter, I have no doubt a lot of people would simply freeze to death. Especially in the smaller communities like where I live. Most don't have alternate heat sources and a lot of older cars won't start unless the block heaters are plugged in to warm them up when it gets down to -20C or colder. Hard to drive anywhere to stay warm if your car won't start.
I am somewhat prepared but not completely at the moment. I have experienced many power outages here and in another small town in the Rockies, where we were the end of the line. Nothing past us for hundreds of miles.
You learn how to survive and prepare after being cold for a day or two.laugh
