We all need boundaries if we want a civilized society and laws. Kids are no different.

I believe that you can fall in love with a persons personality on the net. However to really fall in love you need touch and even with voice and web cams we just cannot do that (yet lol)

lisalee1960: most of us know the difference between the meaning of the word catholic and roman catholic, but roman catholics tend to say just catholic,as it is less of a mouthful,we also know about romans and henry v111,but the thread was about catholic king/queen, trinity, you havent given your views on that

A man can be good or bad whatever his faith. In a modern Britain I see not need for a Monarch yet alone a debate if they are catholic or not.

trish123: No, they never really went because their use of fear eventually subsumed the native beliefs and that fear persisted till reason began to gain ground over faith which was progressed by the cause of education for all which is a relatively recent event - they had superior force at the time and demonstrated this with acts such as the barbaric treatment of Boudicca and many other acts which were designed to subdue rebellion - but they didnt take away the spirit of the people which is evidenced by revivals of various pagan rituals in recent years as well as the taking back of christmas - we have survived the invasion and now its the christian numbers which are dwindling........

trish123: Empire and Church alike, they were repelled from these shores as soon as it became clear that 'trading' wasnt their only motive........

They where not repelled the Romans where here for years and year. London is a Roman city "Londinium" "Colchester" "Porcheter" the list is endless. Civic offices, even our law systems are Roman in nature. The Roman church is still here in Britain. No matter what way you look at it did the Romans ever really go?

trish123: Tell that one to Boudiccas daughters............

"Boudica" and the Iceni tribe where treated harshly by the Romans without a doubt. But she got her revenge and very nearly caused the Romans to pull out. Dont forget we are talking about the Roman Empire not the Roman church :)

No I am suggesting what we call a process of "Romanization" of the Provence. Rome was well aware of Britain even before the Gaius Julius Caesar invasion. Society within Britain before was complex the only thing the Romans did was to Romanize it. Examples of this can be seen in Romano-Celtic art/craft work. The Romans did not just invade they had what is called Client Kingdoms (fishbourn) being a prime example.

trish123: I believe there were various forms of Paganism being practiced in Britain before Rome decided to outlaw and kill any who disagreed with Christianity

There are many examples in early christian churches within Britain where one can find Pagan symbols along side that of Christ, the green man for example can be found in many early christian churches here. It was a early version of Vatican 2 and the catholic church still does this in many Latin American countries today. The persecution of Christians within the Roman Empire was wide spread before the first Christian Roman Emperor Constantine.

Wikki is at best dodgy to be truthful. The situation with the High church of England is that in many cases they are being starved of money by liberal Bishops. The sad thing is we in the Catholic church seem to help them more then there own. What Wiki refers to as a low church is in reality a small church with a low attendance that as been taken over by Fundamentalist. The Bishop of Durham even suggested that there is no need to believe that Christ was divine to be a Christian. With the ordination of practicing gay Bishops and female priests the Church of England is in "free fall". Very sad to see.
